All planes have these issues. I think I read somewhere that the 777 had a horrible start, only to become royalty.

777-200 was a bloated plane.
It wasnt until the 200ER and 300/ER versions came out that it became a gangbuster.
It was always assumed 767, DC10, MD11 would be replaced by 777 but when airlines start replacing 747, 340s etc then you know the plane is good. Almost too good as it has cannibalized the 747 market somewhat.
