Reading here original post on Facebook, I think Potashnik was most triggered by the rather incredible editorial oversight of the Winnipeg Free Press to add the headline to Ryan Thorpe's 1 April article "Jets Parties Will Turn Downtown White Again."
It is honestly an unfortunate oversight, but people should be neither surprised nor outraged that some will take offence to this. Our brains are pattern-recognition machines, and with emotions attached then these sorts of things are bound to happen from time to time.
