Interesting to look back during the summer. I traded Doughty to Dave for the 8th overall pick. The big difference was that I needed to move him and free up cap space. Mere months later he has been flipped, with a 2nd for a nearly PPG player and a good young dman.
Underscores that a really good strategy for building your asset base is to make sure you have cap space in the summer to leverage to acquire players at their lowest values and then flip them during the year for a better return. This is a shining example of that.
