Why not just use the Gmail web interface? I find it works best that way anyways. Google uses some of its own protocols they've invented for things like tags (instead of folders) that don't sync with most desktop clients properly.
If you do want a desktop client, I'd suggest looking at Mozilla Thunderbird. It is far better than Windows 10 Mail.
