Yep, pull the plate off, take out the switch, the white wires will be wire nutted in the back of the box, ground does not matter, if you can, using your test meter, check for 110 power on both of the black wires attached to the switch. Could be stranded leads to the body of the switch and not a screw connection. These leads will be wire nutted to black wires, check the connection there as well as power.
