Heat are still in a strong position.

For Stockton to miss playoffs Bakersfield has to win their final two games in regulation and Stockton has to lose their final two games in regulation. All other outcomes end up with the Heat making the playoffs.

The pressure is more on Bakersfield than it is on Stockton for Friday's game.

Bakersfield's last game is also against San Jose who is considered to arguably be the best team in the AHL. (Although, if you are a cynic you could point out that San Jose may rather face Bakersfield in the 1st round and be willing to "throw" the final game if the outcome meant facing a weaker opponent).

Stockton's final game is against Tuscon who are in the lower 3rd of the AHL standings.
