Picked up two pairs of welder's glasses at Acklands a few days ago. The sales clerk (big older lady) looks at me and says: "Are you one of those nature-lovers that gonna use these to watch the solar eclipse?". I'm responding with fake outrage:"Do I not look like a welder to you?". She looks back at me and without hesitation says: "Nope..." How dare she!...

We've abandoned the idea of going to Oregon. Simply impossible to find any reasonable accommodation. Going to stay in Butte for a couple of nights and then watch the eclipse from around Rigby, right on the totality path centreline. Anyone stayed in Butte ever?
