It's been fun watching the conservative members of my family do mental jumping jacks / voodoo math to justify voting for UCP in 2019, to justify everything Kenney did during his tenure, and now to justify Smith being a great premier.
When I tell them that the ANDP are now similar to Lougheed's PCs back in the day, and that Notley's mentor was Lougheed, and that Danielle Smith has even said that Notley is of the Lougheed brand of politics, they flat out hate that. They just... can't... accept it. It's like a syntax error in their brains. Telling them of all the wasteful money the UCP has spent or cost us in poor decisions... well then it's whataboutism with the NDP and Trudeau and Singh, the usual suspects.
The delusion with many Albertans (boomers?) is soaked in a blue tinge, and it will be a long while before that color is bleached out.
