Like, as a kid in the 80s you would just head out with your parents after work and drive to a campground and get a spot, right? No booking or anything. Even when I'd go with my girlfriend in our trailer in the mid- to late-90s we never booked anything ever. Went to Banff, Two Jack, Jasper, Kelowna, Kimberley, Vancouver, Osoyoos, etc. etc. in the middle of summer and just rolled in and camped.

There's still lots of campgrounds that are partially FCFS or are 100% FCFS.
Tunnel Mountain has quite a few no-service FCFS spots.
Also I'll let you in on a secret: Virtually all federal/provincial (NOT private) campgrounds have 1 or 2 non-reserve spots, even if they're "100%" advance reserve.
