That sounds minuscule but it’s not. McDavid ranks 37th in TOI but if you take out defenseman he’s 3rd. Also the 2 players ahead of him, Kopitar and Barkov are on the ice more because they are elite defensively (Selke winner and #4 in Selke voting) always pulling the difficult assignments. What’s McDavid’s excuse other than being overplayed because he’s 90% of Edmonton’s offense? Gaudreau is 18th among forwards and 98th overall. And that extra 2 minutes McDavid plays, over 82 games with an average of 22:00 minutes per game, it’s like he’s playing close to 8 extra games compared to Gaudreau. Talk about burn out.
