I think the thing that bothers me the most about this is Sutherland and Chabot hiding behind "it's a private matter". It certainly doesn't seem private at this point. You just made a motion, and not a kind-hearted one, in a public place that was also recorded on camera. You're a politician, and what you do in public is a reflection of how you represent the people who voted you in.
By doing things like that in public, their little backroom spats are coming into the public eye, and they should be more willing to come forward with what kind of dysfunction they're taking part in.
