I'm actually convinced that DCs problem is that no one in charge, from the studio, producers, directors and writers have any faith or devotion to the source material. From top to bottom Marvel has people that are either dedicated to comics or directly involved in them or both.
Nobody who respected the characters would do this to Batman, Superman or Lex Luthor.
