This season has had a fair number of games this season where he does what I call a Jokinen fly by where he stakes past board battles or skates a loop into the D zone but doesn't get anywhere near a forecheck on the D. Joker used to do that far too often it drives me nuts Backs has a bad habit of doing that this season but prior seasons he was more engaged and hard on the forecheck.
With that said that can be easily fixed with the right system and coach.
5m per for 4-5 is fair I guess. Overall like Backund quality #2 C.

Backlund is not reliable in the faceoff circle. He’s been sub-50% most of his career.
