Question - my wife is freaking out as all her friends have told her with central AC you have to pick - do you want your upstairs to be cooled or your main floor - is this true?

Seems more like basic physics in that its harder to push cold air UP so the upper level would be a bit more warmer than the main. Any input?
If you have one furnace and one AC unit, as my house does- with a zone controller- then I just cool the upstairs and the main floor sorts itself out quite well... in fact, the main floor is often cooler than the top floor where we pump all our cold air to.

If you have 2 furnaces (bigger homes, older homes) and getting 1 AC, then put your AC on the upstairs circuit.
