As we seem to discuss every year, the reason you'd go out and get a depth d-man is because you don't want to have a young developing d-man like Andersson or Kylington sitting in the press box for 60+ games out of the season.
If Andersson, Kylington, or Valimaki are in the NHL this year, it will be to play, not to sit. They still need a 7th d-man in the NHL and it doesn't make sense for it to be Stone or Kulak. If need be, you'd trade one of those guys to make room because they have value as everyday NHL d-men.
