Smith is 6 months younger (and a whole lot bigger) than Klimchuk, and produced ~as much as Klimchuk did this year in the AHL, with less ice-time.
Neither of their seasons were especially confidence inspiring, but it's not fair to write off one and hope for the other. I would rank them very similarly as prospects at this time.

You have to consider that they were in totally different positions with the team.
Klimchuk played most of his time with Arnold, and they were used as the shutdown forward line. Given very little time to develop their offensive game which is downright stupid by Huska.
Klimchuk is a jack of all trades type player, while Smith is a one trick pony at the pro level. Can't just compare points and size then suggest Smith is better...
