Do you mean an Intel i5 processor? I don't think they make an i7-6500K...they have a i7-6700K or an i5-6600K. Either would be good though I think the cheaper one, the i5, is probably the one you should stick with.
I was actually going to buy the Asus Z170-A but went with the MSI because it came with Total War: Warhammer. The Asus seems to be a very popular board.
It seems like all of those parts are fine. You may want to ensure you get fast RAM. Maybe something along the lines of 2133+ MHz. There's 3200MHz available but that might be excessive. I've got that speed but I don't know if it makes a huge difference compared to RAM that's slightly slower.
