we also just bought one, I think from Costco though, and my wife used our regular vacuum first, and then used the Dyson right afterwards and it was gross how much more stuff the Dyson picked up.
The dogs don't attack it with the same vigour they did the old vacuum though. Disappointing because that was always highly entertaining.
