I doubt that would get it done. Mid-late pics really aren't all that valuable, in comparison to a player like Karlsson. Ottawa would want at least one big young piece coming back, a player on Monahan's level. There are several teams with multiple Monahan level players to trade. I can't see the Flames being able to put together a competitive offer that doesn't open up another huge hole.
