I was thinking that in order to resign him as a 73 overall, I'd have to resign him for a minimum of $5 M for 1 year. Looking at salaries for other 73 OVA, they look to average closer to $4 M per year, so I was thinking I'd be able to pick up an equivalent free agent for cheaper, or maybe make a trade for a better contract/player.
That was my thought process at the time, but a more experienced GM strongly suggested I rethink this and hold on to him as there is substantial trade value there.
