It's so funny to look at the trades in the late 90's and see all the former Saint John players getting shipped out. If there was one thing to be certain of back then, it was that as soon as a player became a favorite here, they'd get traded.

It's especially hilarious to see all the deals they made after SJ's first run to the Calder in '98.

Quote:
17-Jun-98
To The Calgary Flames - Ken Wregget & Dave Roche
To The Pittsburgh Penguins - German Titov & Todd Hlushko

26-Jun-98
To The Calgary Flames - Future considerations
To The Nashville Predators - Jim Dowd

02-Jul-98
To The Calgary Flames - David Cooper
To The Toronto Maple Leafs - Ladislav Kohn

14-Jul-98
To The Calgary Flames - Bob P. Bassen
To The Dallas Stars - Aaron Gavey

13-Oct-98
To The Calgary Flames - 1999 3rd Round selection (Patrick Aufiero)
To The Philadelphia Flyers - Rights to Ryan Bast & 1999 8th Round selection
(David Nystrom)

27-Oct-98
To The Calgary Flames - Jeff Shantz and Steve Dubinsky
To The Chicago Blackhawks - Jamie Allison, Marty McInnis & Erik
Andersson
Hlushko, Dowd, Kohn, Gavey, Bast, and Allison were all huge parts of the team in Saint John at the time.

No real point to this post, I just found it kind of funny reading all those trades that didn't do a whole lot for either team.

EDIT: Oh, and I just wanted to add that I absolutely hated hearing that a player was traded for "future considerations". Drove me abso-friggin-lutely nuts!
