Defenceman Connor Mackey has been named the AHL's Player of the Week after posting three goals and five points through two games against San Diego.

On Friday, he became the first Stockton player to score a short-handed goal and a power play goal in the same game since Curtis Lazar did so on Dec. 8, 2018. He also picked up an assist and had four shots on net in the 4-1 win, earning himself first star honours.

On Saturday, he scored another short-handed marker and registered an assist in the 3-2 victory.

Mackey now has three goals and nine points through 17 games this season. The blueliner is in his second pro season, spending 27 games with the Heat in 2020-21. During his rookie year, he had three goals and 16 points and also played six games with the Flames, scoring one goal and three points.
