I wouldn't be shocked if an MLS team fell to a CPL team. Back when the Canadian championship was in its infancy and TFC was the only MLS team they struggled with Montreal and Vancouver who were in USL at the time. Montreal actually won the first tournament in 2008 when it was just those three teams.
