Never had problem with shoulder buttons, but I have gone through a few early made PS4 controllers where the rubber on the sticks were coming off. Had other issues with the sticks where they had stick drift or where it thought I was pressing down on it when I wasn't.
Hopefully the PS5 controllers will be better made.
