If it weren't for the long-run incentive for good players to go to super teams, I'd say the NHL would be a better product if players were compelled to bet in favour of their own teams.
Actually, even that might work itself out, since if you go to a worse team, you get better odds. The teams that would suffer the most would be the ones with the most betting homers. Yeah, I'm pretty sure I just talked myself into it.
