The big twist on disc one was well beyond Midgar. It was at the end of disc one. That should be the hook for the first game so people qctually feel compelled to play the next.

Yeah I was including that in my “it’s dumb”. Not a lot of story happens, you only barely meet half the characters, it’s very one note aesthetically... it’s a great starting area for an RPG, but not a great area for a whole game.
