It suggests that the recently released Intel 8700K hexacore is probably the best overall CPU for DAW when accounting for performance and cost, if you can find it in stock. The Ryzen 1700 is a good option as well. But with the new CPUs, you'll probably want to use Windows 10 for the better support of the new CPU families.
