Treliving basically gave away depth for nothing and then decided to trade for depth at a time when depth costs a premium
Kulak proved in Montreal he is better than Prout, Fantenberg, Kylington and Stone who played 87 games combined for us, so he would have gotten plenty of ice time

Flames did Kulak a favor by dealing him to a better opportunity. Its a move that looks good with players considering to sign in Calgary or not.
