It honestly felt pretty seamless to me.
I think you could safely predict the type of criticism that "it's not the same as the original", just like every other IP that goes through new iterations. But it's literally 20 years later, and comedic sensibilities have changed. But they blended the old characters with the new ones well and the differences between them seem to be the basis for the storylines this season.
