I can field that one...the city does not allow permanent driveway expansion, for the most part. They consider permanent asphalt and concrete(and possibly other types, not sure). Brick is ok as it is considered removable, as that is what I had to do when I actually followed procedure and inquired what I was allowed to do before doing it. I'm not sure I follow their logic on the classifications, but that is what they say.
I'm actually a little surprised at this point that the city hasn't told all concrete companies not to do these expansions unless they have a permit. The city has a right to control this becuase driveways all cross public land.
