For a little bit of optimism, apparently ACL surgery has come a long way in the last few decades and a lot of players do make a full recovery.

Of all positions in all sports, I'd have to imagine an NFL running back would the hardest to recover from an injury like that. So if Adrian Peterson can rush for 2000 yards the season after tearing his ACL, IMO that bodes well.

For comparison, Dany Heatley tore 3 knee ligaments (ACL/MCL/lateral meniscus) among many other injuries on Sept 29. when he crashed his Ferrari and still played 31 games that season (25 pts).

Fingers crossed medical improvements and a 6 week head start get Valimaki on the ice before mid-season.
