I mean, I guess it's newsworthy in that the Oilers aren't in the news for:
- signing and then resigning a wife-beating, gamblaholic degenerate (allegedly)
- giving a PTO to a rapist (allegedly)
- having a chairman who oversaw a tenure of Hockey Canada's most prolific misogynistic eras (allegedly)
- having an owner accused of casting couch-esque shenanigans (allegedly)
- a captain who basically shrugs his shoulders at all of the above
