I think the issue is that the Flames treated the earlier meetings like they were just another game and the Kings really get up for the Flames because they hate Tkachuk so much. In the NHL on most nights the team that wants it more will win regardless of the disparity so the Flames need to get up for these guys as you have to win these games if your goal is to have home ice advantage in the playoffs.
