I think most of us would be screaming bloody murder if the Flames gave up a 1st rounder and a 7 year contract for Kane, who has never lasted anywhere more than 4 years, has a career average of 35 points per season, who has a reputation for wearing out his welcome in the dressing room, and who will turn 34 before the final year of the contract starts.

I'd be happy to save the cap space for a certain highly-sought-after UFA centre. Hopefully this means that SJ is now less of a contender for Tavares' services.
