He hardly seems like the type to show much emotionally. Saying some words to long dead people he took the effort to bury seems to speak volumes though.
Also, since last season quite a few things have been "a little too convenient" to pick up the story and make the pace faster. They don't really have a choice if they're doing less episodes and only 2 more seasons to finish everything.
