I also hit a wall in RDR2 and needed a break for a while. It wasn't because of the controls (I've got the hang of them now), or the travelling (cinematic mode is glorious), or even getting sick of hearing Dutch say "I have a plan!", but because the immersion into this ultimately dark and depressing world was becoming too much for my fragile emotions.
I took a break since Christmas and just got back into it the other day. Turns out I was only a few hours away from completing the main story so I probably should have just stuck with it back then.
