If the Flames are going to establish themselves as having had a successful rebuild the time to do it is now. One more year and they will be significantly delayed as compared to your other examples.
Tinordi is a goof but I think he's absolutely correct in his outlook for where the team should be going. In a season where everything is going right for the team in terms of their star players (and that includes Smith), when the team has no first or second round pick, you absolutely HAVE to go for it starting now.
