You just have to catch one kid, and you have a weapon. The other 5 year olds wouldn't be able to swing themselves around like nunchucks. Which also is why I hate going to the public rink where there are a clueless parents who like to carry their angry, kicking kids with skates still on their feet. Yeah, thanks, I would prefer not to get decapitated today.
Anyway, we tried bob-skates with our kids when they were at that age range. I don't think they benefitted from it. They make real skates for that age, and you can usually find them cheap on Kijiji and they're adjustable to a certain foot size. Don't get into the mechanics of skating just yet, but as other suggested, just have them walk as normally as they can on the ice, and eventually the gliding will occur naturally.
