I like to be able to manage music on multiple platforms. So I put sharepod on my iPod the moment I got it.

Drag and drop!

I keep all my music on an External HDD so I don't have a library for iTunes to use.

The only thing I use iTunes for is playing directly from my iPod.

For the money, it's hard to beat the iPod, but if you're an audiophile, then it should be avoided if at all possible. I find that the EQ settings on the iPod are nothing but crap. Any time EQ is turned on, my music clips, and it's not my headphones, because even my studio headphones clip.
