I know everyone repeats this as a truism but a lot of us and most of our leaders knew about Viet Nam on some personal level and the disastor that was, yet here they went again, into Iraq, another country where we weren't wanted or needed, and they weren't really a threat.
I think there is something else missing in our society, maybe a little awareness of ourselves.
