So I got a nice new Vermont Castings BBQ with our appliance package when we got our new house.. except we didn't have a deck at the time, so we couldn't use it.
Well over a year and a half later, we finally have a nice deck to put it on, so I roll it out this evening and start pulling off that plastic stuff they put on stainless steel to protect it.. except it's not coming off! It comes off in tiny pieces on half the BBQ and leaves behind glue residue!!
I can't use it with the plastic still on, it'll melt and get far worse I'm sure.
I tried goof-off and that kind of works for the residue that's left behind, but there's still tons of plastic left. To pick it all off would take months. I tried my razor scraper and it doesn't seem to do anything (possibly not sharp enough though).
Any ideas? I'm going to call VC tomorrow to see if they have any ideas. This sucks, if I have to do it by hand it'll be next year before I can even try my BBQ!
