Did you talk to MS like I suggested? They should be able to get you reimbursed for the extended warranty you purchased, and guide you through thre return/repair process. A friend of mine had his 360 brick on him, and he had a replacement the next day and a 6 year warranty. Seriously, give MS a call.

The new chipset 360s are not on shelves yet, that I've seen. Look for premiums with HDMI outs to at least know you've got the improved heatsink. The new chipsets have been rumored as being on the verge of retail for months - but likely won't change the red ring of death problem anyway. My understanding is that the GPU not the CPU that causes the problem, and the GPU is not going to the new chipset/being made using the 65 nm or whatever processing. You shouldn't see red ring problems on Elites or new Premiums, as MS has changed the compound used to keep the GPU in place. Combined with the new heatsink, we shouldn't see the chips pop put of place and cause as many problems as there have been in the first 18 months.

And you should all buy Wiis anyway.
