Hopefully you shouldnt ever get the red ring of death, it was a lot of the first generation consoles that are having problems, if you are looking at getting an Xbox360, I would recommend go with the Elite, from my understanding it has a differnt processor or something like that in it, so it has less chance of the Red ring of death happening.
