Not sure about parity argument, there are alot of bad teams in the NFL. Remember that there's only 12 playoff spots out of 32 teams.
The Edmonton Oilers include, Oakland, Houston, Detroit, Cleveland, Miami, Arizona, Green Bay, Atlanta, Tampa Bay, Minnesota,... that's alot already.
There's much more parity in the NHL than in the NFL. (that is until the Ducks win like 3 out of 5 cups and drives Bettman nuts )

You'll see the usual suspects in the playoffs.. NE, Indy, SD, Denver, Baltimore, Chicago, Seattle, NO, Philly. Cowboys.
