I have a friend who worked at an ultra cuts and she made next to nothing without tips. The haircutters at those places(which it sounds like are popular with you guys- 15 dollar harcuts???) basically only make their (very low) wage- most of the price for the haircut goes to the salon owner.

Anyways that being said, I tip at least 5 bucks on a haircut. and the last haircut I got cost 62 bucks (being female sucks). The one I usually go to charges 45 and I leave her 50. But I know girls who will regularily drop 300 bucks on their hair after highlites and so on.

Basically I would feel like a big prick if I didn't tip them...
