Really? I find it's the complete opposite. Canadians tip almost always, for any service and seems that it's expected. Heck, I work in retail, and I get tips, very rarely, but I do.

Also, my dad's worked in a Chinese restaurant for the majority of the time that he's been in Canada and even he says tips are expected if the food wasn't bad (no tip is understandable if the food/service was really bad). Even considering that it's considerably less to tip for a Chinese restaurant than it is for a "western" restaurant.
