I think I may have read this on this site..and i might not be remembering it correctly:

"Being asked to do a wedding speech is a lot like making love to the queen. You know its a great honor but you don't really want to do it"


Another one you could use would be "A great speech is like a skirt. Long enough to cover the essentials, but short enough to keep it interesting."

One liners work best in wedding speeches. Audiences will hold on to the "mushy parts" anxiously awaiting there next laugh.
