If you ever played Metroid Prime: Hunters for the DS or Metroid Prime 2 (maybe you have), you should understand why there is no multiplayer. Though Hunters, was a good game, its focus was multiplayer and thus, it made for a poor single player experience, which is what the Metroid series is all about
: exploration, solitude, and well paced spats of action. Metroid Prime: Hunters, is not a true Metroid game, but it is a good handheld multiplayer FPS.
The split screen multiplayer in Metroid Prime 2, is a total waste of time, and is not fun at all.
In my opinion, multiplayer does not suit the Metriod series, and it would have been at best a superfluous component to Prime 3 (which I am still waiting to come in the mail), or at worst would have seriously detracted from the single player component.
