I'm like Jiri and have a real love for documentaries. Here's a list of ones that I would recommend, and then my top three faves.
Control Room... the story of al Jazeera and their work as the Middle Eastern CNN. Really eye opening and gives a great perspective of what another culture thinks of us and our media.
The Hunting of the President... the true story behind the Clinton "scandals" and the golden age of smear journalism.
Iraq for Sale... exposes the money being made and who is earning it.
Jazz... Ken Burns is awesome!
Journey of Man... a brilliant film about the origins of modern man, and how we are all from one seed.
Orwell Rolls in His Grave... explores the New American culture of doublespeak and lies.
Outfoxed... a scathing look at Fox News and their seedy side. Biased, but hits a homerun.
Shut Up and Sing... the story of the Dixie Chicks after their comments about Bush, but more importantly, the colusive nature of the media and radio in the United States.
The Power of Nightmares... this is geo-political documentary series that will leave you shaking your head about the scam that is international politics and terrorism.
Weapons of Mass Deception... two wars going on in Iraq. One involving the search for WMDs and the other involving the cohersion of the media in covering the war itself.
With God on Our Side... a look at George W. Bush's reasons for finding God, and how the evangelical right keep him in business.
Top Three...
The Corporation... a Canadian production that is long, but worth the watch. It really beats the crap out of Big Busine$$.
Who Killed the Electric Car... mandatory viewing for anyone who gives a crap about our environment and those who think Big Business and Government is looking out for our better interests. Beats the crap out of the argument of "build it, and they will come".
Why We Fight... STUNNING!!! AWESOME!!! TwoBIG thumbs up to the movie makers, and one BIG middle finger to the industrial military complex.
