Depends on where its made. If its assembled, even partially in North America it would be duty free, just like vehicles. Regardless, you would still be saving a large sum.

Likely the only tax you would pay at the border is GST, which you would be charged here anyways.

I saw a very nice Stainless Steel fridge at the Costco where I was on holidays for $899. Something similar here would be $2000 easily. We recently chose our appliances in Canada so we were very familiar with pricing here.
